Welcome to Episode 2 of my Haunted Mill Ghost Story series. The story that follows is true (well, as true as any ghost story). I refer to this one as the "Windows" story.
One morning last fall, I came in to open the shop and I immediately noticed a difference in the shop. There was a breeze coming in. I checked the store and saw where the breeze was coming from. Across the back of the store, the second window up was opened on each set of windows. Here's the thing: I had closed down the night before. I walked by those windows when I shut everything down, plus it was VERY cold outside. There was no way that I would have even opened a window, much less left one open. And we were on the second floor, so I sincerely doubt that anyone opened it from the outside.
But here's the creepy part. I looked into the Wine Bar next door. It had been locked up for days, since it was only opened when the Mill had an event scheduled. All the way down, all of the second windows up had been opened.
I know that this story isn't as flashy as other ghost stories. There wasn't any floating apparitions, or scary noises, or anything like that. But I have to say, seeing all those windows opened in a room that I knew had been locked for days really gave me the creeps.
